Alfa Romeo History Overview

On June 24, 1910, a new company was founded in Milan under the name A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili). It was Neapolitan entrepreneur Nicola Romeo who later took over the company and renamed it Alfa Romeo. In that same year, Ugo Stella and Giuseppe Merosi, the company’s first chief engineer, signed an agreement to develop two cars: the 24 HP and the 12 HP, named after their respective horsepower ratings.

From 2007 on, Alfa Romeo was owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).
